Doobie, doobie, doooo. This melodic word has nothing to do with crooning lounge-worthy tunes. Rather, it means doubtful, questionable, unsure in one’s opinion or worthy of suspicion as to the genuine quality or nature of someone or something.

Example: Though Jerry wanted to trust the general contractor’s projected completion date, he was dubious that she could find enough available, qualified subs to meet the schedule.
