FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council, whose mission is to promote environmentally sound, socially beneficial and economically prosperous management of the world’s forests. To do this, the organization provides two types of certification: Forest Management and Chain of Custody. In both types, independent, third-party FSC-accredited Certification Bodies verify that all FSC-certified forests conform to the requirements contained within an FSC forest management standard and assess forest management and chain of custody operations using the FSC standards.
