(pronounced eye-TEN-er-ehnt)

Although this word can be used as a noun to mean a person who travels from place to place, it is more commonly used as an adjective to describe that person, as well as to describe a person who works only for a short time in each of these places. If it helps you to remember the word, think of the related word “itinerary,” as in a list of all the places one will travel on a trip / vacation.

Example: The applicant’s resume reflected his itinerant work history, which made the interviewer slightly reluctant to hire him.
