(pronounced OB-zheh dahr)

A French term referring to something that is a work of art or that has some kind of artistic value, especially a fine antique or something considered to be “fine art” such as a painting, a sculpture or one of the decorative arts.

Example: At the fast-paced estate auction, he wasted no time bidding on what he considered to be objet d’art: a set of 1870 Sheffield silver wine coasters in excellent condition with turned wooden bases and featuring Bacchanalian scenes of cherubs and grapes.
