A term that has gained more and more traction as the Millennial Generation has come into their own, service learning refers to an educational method uniting instruction time in the classroom with experience out in the community performing service projects and giving back to society in some way.

Example: Tamika’s interior design program heavily emphasized service learning, leading her to spend her summer in South America to work with an organization designing and building low-cost, sustainable housing for those with disabilities.
