2011/06: Attention CE Providers & Attendees—Big Changes in Store for NCIDQ Tracking System

Are you going to NeoCon this month? Are you earning continuing education hours for state licensure or ASID or IIDA requirements? Whether you’re a provider of continuing education courses, a presenter of courses or an attendee, you need to know that big changes are coming to the way NCIDQ tracks CE activity. Earlier this year, NCIDQ announced that they were launching an online continuing education registry service for their active Certificate holders. The online registry is tied to a Certificate holder’s MyNCIDQ account and is available at no additional cost.
This new registry replaces the 15-year old paper-based continuing education registry, which requires participants or providers to mail in forms and pay $12 (or $12/attendee) to add each class into their registry. The paper-based system ends on June 30, 2011. After that date, NCIDQ will no longer add any items to the registry, but the transcripts will still be available until June 30, 2012.
Attendees
If you’re going to NeoCon and you’re an active Certificate holder, you can enter your activity for free whenever it’s convenient for you. NCIDQ will have a booth there, so you can enter it onsite and save yourself a trip to the IIDA office to drop off your card and pay your fees. If you’re not an active Certificate holder, you can reactivate onsite in the NCIDQ booth. We will be in booth 9039 on the 7th floor.
NCIDQ recommends that anyone with activity in the old registry go online now and print a transcript for free. That way, you have a historical record of all your activity. For now, that transcript is free, but it’s likely NCIDQ will start charging to access the information once the old system is shut down. CLICK HERE to access your transcript for free from NCIDQ. You can add your recent activity into your MyNCIDQ registry if you want.
Before, the NCIDQ registry would have “generic” titles for trade shows, such as “NeoCon,” but with this new system, you can enter the individual sessions you attend and note what the content was for each one. This will be helpful if you have to prove that you attended courses in barrier-free design or sustainability, for instance. Plus, the info is added right away, so now you have instant access to your CE history—no more waiting for your provider to send it in and for NCIDQ to get it entered.

Providers
Please share this information with your colleagues and attendees. The new system is operational now, and the old system will shut down at the end of June.
