NCIDQ&A 17 years ago No Comments

EDITOR’S NOTE: Welcome to PLiNTH & CHiNTZ’s newest section giving readers the INSiDE SCOOP: NCIDQ&A. It’s specially designed to quell fears, demystify procedures, and examine the exam. We cooked up this tasty tidbit because the competent crew
over at NCIDQ [National Council for Interior Design Qualification] grew tired of us forwarding our Q-related reader questions them to answer all the time. They asked if they could simply write a regular column and be done with it. We, of course, said yes. And though this inaugural article was taken from their February 2007 QLetter e-bulletin (offered only to NCIDQ Certificate Holders), future articles will feature fresh, new content dealing with piping hot Q Tips. Sorry. We couldn’t resist.

In 2004, NCIDQ updated the education and work experience requirements to qualify for the exam and earn the NCIDQ Certificate. Previously, the eligibility requirements were described in years. For example: 4-year degree and two years of work experience. These kinds of descriptions tended to be confusing for many applicants who attended school part-time or worked part-time.

The 2004 changes restated the requirements in terms of academic credit hours and work experience hours so that prospective applicants could finish the requirements on their own schedule. Many applicants have found the new requirements helpful, but some have still been confused by the specific details.

To help future applicants understand our rules, we have clarified the eligibility routes and updated our Web site with new information and graphics. A visual chart showing the five eligibility routes to the exam will help aspiring certificate holders find their own route to the exam.

Please note that the requirements have NOT changed. They have simply been restated in terms that applicants can better understand. So get the lowdown on both exam and IDEP [Interior Design Experience Program] eligibility requirements by clicking here. At the top of the Web page, you’ll be presented a link where you able to download the .PDF with all of the groovy new helpful graphics. So “get your Q on” – it’s time to map your interior design future.
