Laura McDonald Stewart, Founder of plinthandchintz.com, is pleased to be a Guest Judge at this fundraising event benefiting Vogel Alcove. This year marks the 11th Furniture 4 Kids Design Competition.
Design & Design is a new event combining two of Vogel Alcove’s favorite celebrations – their Ambassadors of Hope Awards and the Furniture 4 Kids Design Competition – for a night of great food and drink, innovative design and special recognition for some of their most generous supporters.
Furniture 4 Kids
For more than a decade, the Furniture 4 Kids Design Contest has brought out the competitive and creative spirits of architecture and design professionals throughout Dallas. Teams of designers are challenged to transform identical children’s tables and chairs into themed and functional furniture pieces. This year’s theme is “Farm to Table.” A panel of judges will choose the winning pieces, and the entries will be available for bid through an online raffle supporting Vogel Alcove.
Ambassadors of Hope
The Ambassadors of Hope Awards were created to honor the individuals and organizations that support Vogel Alcove’s mission to help children recover from the trauma of homelessness. They include awards named for their founders – Doris Budner and Thelma Vogel.
About Vogel Alcove
Vogel Alcove serves as many as 200 children each day, allowing them to learn, grow and thrive in a place free from hunger or trauma. While their children are in their care, their parents, most of whom are single mothers, have the opportunity to work, look for work or go to school. They give homeless families a chance to overcome their circumstances.
