August 1 - August 4
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.
TED Monterey: The Case for Optimism
What a time it is. People everywhere are angry, suspicious, distrustful … often with good reason. And yet, might it be possible to emerge from the current fiery moment stronger than before? Wiser? Happier?
With the careful combination of visionary ideas, strategic planning, hard work and lucky timing, the planners of TED think so. At this very special TED event, they’ll celebrate the clear-eyed and the bold of heart, those who don’t shy away from the most intractable-seeming problems but rather step toward them to make the case that, even now, hope is possible.
They’re heading to the heart of everything — and back to their roots. At this uniquely intimate event, they’ll host the conversations that matter, focusing on building a brighter future for everyone. And for 2021 only, they’ll do it in the place where TED began: Monterey, California.
