(pronounced BUH-tur-fli TAY-buhl)
The term for the kind of table that can actually “spread its wings” to create a larger usable surface. Simple designs use hinges to bring side-hanging, use-them-when-you-need-them vertical surfaces up their horizontal position. More complicated designs feature panels that emerge from hidden locations and lock into place when the top surfaces are pulled apart. Quite ingenious, really.
