(pronounced KUH-lehr-way)

This term is used in industries that have something to do with textiles: wallcoverings, carpets, and fabrics for anything from clothing to upholstery to window treatments. When a textile is designed, it is almost always manufactured in some variety of color schemes. (The exception might be a modern manufacturer resurrecting a historical pattern that was originally produced in only one color palette.) If the pattern or material composition of the fabric changes, then it is technically a different product altogether; however, if only the color combinations change, then each schemes is considered a different colorway of the same textile.
