(pronounced GA-leh-ree-rayl)

This term can describe two different things in the A&D world. First, the term is used to refer to the small, low railing installed around a shelf, table, or other horizontal surface in order to prevent items from sliding off. Secondly, art galleries and museums often use a railing system that is installed along the top of its walls near the ceiling, allowing for art to be changed out easily and often, and this system can also be referred to as a gallery rail.
