As the next generation of designers – that’s you! – enters the workforce, they need training and support. IDEP is a framework foryou to get broad, high-quality career experience inyour first years on the clock. Plus, it helps you get the work experience you need to qualify for the NCIDQ Exam and licensure / registration. The keys to your success in IDEP are your supervisor and mentor. You need their buy-in because they are the ones who will provide you the training opportunities and support required to complete the program. Need help getting them on board? We can help.

NCIDQ has a new publication that will help you do just this. It’s targeted at supervisors and mentors, and it tells them exactly what their IDEP roles and responsibilities will be. (We made sure to tell your supervisor and mentor that helping you through the program won’t take a lot of time out of their busy schedules!)

IDEP isn’t just good for you – it’s also good for the people who help you along the way. Your supervisor will gain a more skilled and valuable employee, andyour mentor gets a chance to give back to the profession by making a difference in one young designer’s life. (Just let them know that the booster shot of youthful optimism and energy that they’ll receive from guiding a newbie designer is better than botox – and a lot less painful.)

Though you will soon find the pretty printed version at tradeshows around the U.S., why wait? Get ahead of the pack and take advantage of the information superhighway by downloading the guide today! There’s no better time than right here, right now.

Oh, and all you potential IDEP participants out there – encourage all the professionals that you come into contact with during organization meetings and internships to become supervisors and mentors for IDEP participants. (Maybe even for you?) Simply start by directing them to this handy dandy online guide. Remind them that NCIDQ.org is open 24 hours a day, so they can do their “homework” in that ratty old bathrobe while eating a bowl of Apple Jacks or Cap’n Crunch. Sweet.
