Keep those comments and suggestions coming. RANT & RAVE by emailing us at contact@plinthandchintz.com. This month’s letters are exclusively related to World Design Day 2005, which took place April 27, 2005. Next month we’ll return to our “regularly scheduled format.”

About the event in general:

The symposium was just excellent!! I can see that a lot of hard work went into it. And that is an understatement! You all must be so proud. Thanks.
Ramya SampathKumar, World Design 2005 participant from Chennai, TamilNadu, India

My thanks, also, to everyone who put this day together. It was
fantastic, and it came together beautifully! Great Job, Everyone!
Sue Downs, World Design Day 2005 participant from Emmett, Idaho, USA

About Discussion Leaders / Sponsors:

A very special thanks goes to you [Susi Santorelli] and Laura McDonald for the encouragement and early belief that we could really put an educational symposium together completely online!
Sheree Schold, World Design Day 2005 organizer from Florida, USA

A big thank you Susi [Santorelli] and Mr. D. [Michael Dwyer] for believing in us and to our other sponsors too, and I’m sure you won’t mind me mentioning particularly Laura at PLiNTH & CHiNTZ. The designers were so fantastic – they coped tremendously with so many reboots in some of the Groups! They were patient and so willing to share their enthusiasm, experience and passion for design with all of us. But, I think to those students who supported us, and to those who tried on the day to get into Yahoo (without success for some of them!) but who kept on trying – a big thank you to you. It could not have happened without such great students and willing and inspiring designers.
Martina McGreevy, World Design Day 2005 organizer from Brussels, Belgium

Topic 9 just concluded, thank you so much to Johnnie Stark our Discussion Leader. Johnnie was a great source of information and makes the whole business of furniture, textiles and Green issues very intriguing. Thank you also to Laura from Plinth & Chintz who assisted. We are so lucky to have such knowledgeable and friendly people available to us.
Kelly Garcia, World Design Day 2005 organizer from Monterrey, Mexico

Thank you so much for having faith in us here at the Rhodec ASID student chapter. We have worked so hard to make it a success, and lately the Symposium team in particular have been putting in a huge amount of great work on our behalf. You are all real stars!!
AND
Hi Everyone – I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who I have ‘chatted’ with so far this morning… Firstly the designers, Sheryl, Andrew and Laura in Topic 3, and Victoria in topic 12. I have a lot of new resources to add to my database, and really appreciate the time you have all put in to share your knowledge and experience with us. Also, I enjoyed meeting some more fellow students, and hope to catch up with you again sometime. Thanks to all involved for organizing this.
Fiona Worboys, World Design Day 2005 participant from Michigan, USA

About PLiNTH & CHiNTZ / Laura McDonald:

Thanks so much for including us in this great opportunity – I will be eager to hear your thoughts on how to improve, etc., but I really enjoyed our group. I thought the students were awesome. I also enjoyed your Power Point tremendously – be sure to pat yourself on the back! Thanks again for dragging us kicking and screaming into the 21st century.
Johnnie Stark, Anzea – World Design Day 2005 Discussion Leader

Thank you Laura! You have been amazing and we all are very excited about the interest the event has generated – which is in no small way thanks to you!
Martina MacGreevy, World Design Day 2005 organizer

A special thanks from our Chapter, and a wealth of gratitude, goes to our Sponsors. Laura McDonald of Plinth & Chintz, who helped with advertising, gathering volunteer designers, offered support and guidance along the way, and put together an awesome keynote address. Be sure to check out her online design magazine at www.plinthandchintz.com and sign up – it’s absolutely FREE, geared towards students, and contains a wealth of information. Thanks Laura, you were a tremendous help!!!
Mary Howington, Rhodec International ASID Student Chapter President
