2015 IDEC Video Competition

IDEC, the Interior Design Educators Council, invites entries for their 2015 IDEC Video Competition, Beginning Young: Introducing Interior Design To Youth.

The Theme

Interior Design as a profession may not be on the radar for the typical middle or high school student, and if it is, there is much misinformation out there about what we actually do. How can we inform teenagers and pre-teens about the interior design profession and what interior designers do? This video competition seeks compelling entries that will engage students to learn and think differently about interior design. In the past, videos from this competition have been used to truly make an impact! The resulting videos of the competition could be used by school teachers and career counselors as they introduce our profession to their students. We hope that such educational videos will benefit interior design education, the public’s understanding of the impact and importance of interior design, and ultimately the profession itself.

The Requirements

The video must be between 1-3 minutes in length. Be efficient and succinct. No copyright or infringing content (audio or video) can be included. Any citations should be included on the final screen of the video. Creative approaches to the video are encouraged. This could include imagery, interviews, testimonials, demonstrations, case studies, or non-traditional ideas including copyright-permissible music. The video should be entertaining and positive with a message that advocates our profession.

The Pay-Off

Entries will be judged by a panel of professionals from IDEC, ASID, CIDA, CIDQ, and IIDA. The finalists will be announced at the annual IDEC conference in March. Cash prizes to be announced.

The Deadline

The competition is open for entries until February 6, 2015.
