2016 ASID Student Portfolio Competition

The ASID Student Portfolio Competition is a new program intended to generate the best collection of design projects from interior design students. Top student portfolios, judged in their entirety, will be selected and their designers will be invited to attend an exclusive student portfolio track at the ASID National Student Summit where they will work one-on-one with professionals to polish their resume, portfolio, and presentation skills.

At the end of their exclusive track, students will be asked to present their portfolio to a distinguished panel of judges to receive in person feedback and be considered for a summer 2016 internship. Winners will be selected at the ASID National Student Summit and have the opportunity to present their portfolio to all ASID National Student Summit attendees at the closing session.

The Program

As a visual presentation of selected projects, the interior design portfolio showcases a designer’s thought process, technical skills, and design capabilities. A thoughtful portfolio sets an interior designer apart from their peers and tells a story. An interior designer begins the process of putting together a portfolio while a student and continues to refine the content throughout his or her career.

The intent is to evaluate all aspects of a student’s work: the concept for how the student thinks; the content of the work submitted; and the context of the student’s record of achievement.

The Requirements

Eligibility
• Must be enrolled as a student as of September 1, 2015.

Cost To Enter
• $45 ASID member
• $95 non-member (includes one year of ASID student membership dues; $50 value)

Submissions will be evaluated in a three part process, see criteria to learn more. Finalists will be invited to attend an exclusive student portfolio track at LAUNCH: The ASID National Student Summit, hosted at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), February 26-28, 2016.

The Pay-Off

Earn a free ticket and an internship. Top submissions from the ASID Student Portfolio Competition will be invited to attend an exclusive track at LAUNCH: The ASID National Student Summit. Students will present their portfolio to top firm representatives in the hopes of procuring a 2016 internship at Gensler, HKS Architects or Steelcase.

The Deadline

Submissions will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. EST on January 12, 2016. Submissions received by 11:59 p.m. EST on December 17, 2015 will receive a discount code valued at $45 to attend LAUNCH: The ASID National Student Summit.
